Lilies of decease, stems Of misfortune, fields Of farewell. A poison Enchanting, a burning To the touch. They Cluster in families but The lily stands alone.
This short, delicate piece explores the mournful beauty of spider lilies, a flower symbolizing loss and death. Inspired after witnessing their autumn blooming in South Korea, Rebecca was fascinated by their striking appearance. Their fields of red curling tendrils mimicked a red mist hovering over the grass, and the wind rippled them in waves. Rebecca's admiration for their vibrancy and melancholic story led her to honouring this hauntingly elegant flower through her writing. CELLA is Rebecca's first-ever poem.
